Almost 104 years after this device was patented,only the young and the hardiest among us brave the bitter elements in order to fish year around.This 1908 advertising Postcard was put out by C.S Ruggles & Co. Three Rivers , Mass. It is promoting their patented ice fishing type (Tip Up). Ruggles appears to have been a pioneer in ice fishing equipment. His 1908 patented design appears to be the same basic design that is use on frozen lakes and ponds today.
